Through the commitment of the Signatories and the active participation of our partner organizations, Carers Canada is building and supporting a network that will ignite change and shape the future for carers across Canada and around the world. Together, we are committed to:
Carer priorities across Canada
The Caregiver Strategy or Manifesto articulates the universal priorities that caregivers and caregiver support groups have identified. Launched in 2008 and updated in 2014, the Manifesto provides a foundation to facilitate a collaborative action plan and ensure carers have a voice in policy, programming and services.
The following five priority areas set the framework for our work:
A Canadian Carer Strategy
Significant gains have been made on developing legislations, policy and programs to better meet the needs of family caregivers, also known as carers. A collaboration of Carers Canada, the Canadian Home Care Association and the Canadian Cancer Action Network, the report outlines the policies and practice initiatives that support carers across the country. In doing so, we aim to identify opportunities for broader pan-Canadian collaboration and build on each other’s efforts to achieve measurable outcomes and values for patients, carers and our society as a whole.
